Job Summary

In this role, the Product Manager will own and manage the product roadmap for www.Elsevier.com and will be responsible for the end to end product lifecycle from customer discovery to implementation. You will have three primary objectives:

2.2 Lead customers to best content seamlessly in any location, language or device so that they can consume the content in the form presented

We're looking for someone who has proven record as a seasoned digital product manager, who understands what makes the web work, ranging from cutting edge Content Management Systems to SEO and web data analytics. As part of a growing information analytics business we are looking for someone who not only understands technology very well, but also can work together with highly skilled application managers, developers and data scientists to help achieve product mission and vision.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to

Product Management:

  • Accountable, in conjunction with the Director Corporate Website, for the end to end product lifecycle
  • Initiate customer discovery and work with the User experience team members to drive User Research
  • Contribute to the ideation and experimentation
  • Define user stories, business requirements & acceptance criteria In conjunction with the Predictive Insights team
  • Define KPIs & metrics to measure success. Strong focus on customer satisfaction and CRO.
  • Report any defects, incidents, slow performance and other occurring issues

Delivery:

  • Build & lead the execution on the product roadmap to drive the evolution of Elsevier.com into a platform that is fast-loading, globally accessible, representative of Elsevier's brand & portfolio, provides the best possible digital experience & is easy to manage in the backend
  • Own the product backlog and prioritise according to business impact, customer impact and dependencies Interact with a cross-functional scrum team of 15 persons on a daily basis, showing deep grasp on the scrum methodology best practices
  • Working extensively with scrum teams and managing sprints
  • Complete mastery over Confluence and JIRA for all product management related needs Accountable for the daily business-as-usual (BAU) deliverables of the corporate website team

Team and stakeholder management:

  • Understand business stakeholders' needs, and synchronise/prioritise product roadmap with relevant stakeholder needs
  • Support business stakeholders in following best practice in their online presence requirements on the Corporate Website, ensuring the best possible user experience
  • Facilitates advice for business stakeholders on best practice in design, SEO, web development
  • Act as single point of contact for all new technical requests and integrations coming from the business stakeholders
  • Have a 360degrees approach and establish seamless working relations with each branch of the larger team: Data, UX, SEO, IT and eCommerce

Customer Focus

  • Interacts with customers to represent requirements and understand key customer needs and market basics
  • Is familiar with and can use customer frameworks (e.g. Jobs To Be Done, personas)
  • Focuses on delivering customer commitments
  • Keeps up to date on news/incidents and understands what is happening in the market and with competitors

Data-Driven Decision-Making & Analysis

  • Autonomously analyzes situations and data
  • Is proficient at reviewing and utilizing data from predefined dashboards to make decision recommendations
  • Compares and evaluates various possibilities and makes recommendations for action that consider business implications.

Go to Market & Product Marketing Lifecycle

  • Executes on go to market launch plans as required
  • Works directly with internal business partners, e.g. sales to gather and assess product needs in the marketplace
  • Trains and educates internal business partners, e.g. web content owners and editors
  • Contributes to building collateral and marketing materials and provides input and expertise
  • Directly addresses customer complaints
  • Interacts independently with customers through in person or virtual communication

Strategy & Commercial Acumen

  • Meaningfully contributes to development and execution of the product strategy
  • Makes links between personal goals and the product teams/business strategy
  • Understands how role contributes to success of product and business strategy and goals

Technical Skills

  • Understands the company technology stack at a high level, for his/her feature area
  • Uses technologies to assist day-to-day tasks (JIRA, Confluence, Zeplin, MIRA, Slack, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target)
  • Understands the relevant technology architecture. Ability to engage developers to understand technology constraints

Experience and Education

Minimum Years of PM Experience: 2-4 years

Critical Experiences:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in JIRA & Confluence in Product Management capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others to modify or maintain a product and identify technology challenges.
  • Demonstrated readiness to engage in customer engagements.
  • Demonstrated readiness to engage in work under minimal supervision.

Education to Qualify: Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical subject (Computer Science or Engineering discipline) is preferred, but not essential. An MBA degree is also preferred, but not essential.
