Get your career off to a flying start with our 10 week paid internship in Human Resources.

You’ll gain real insight into our people strategy, and be perfectly placed to potentially join our graduate programme the following year.

About the business area

In Human Resources our role is to make RBS a great place to work, a place where everyone is treated fairly and able to fulfil their potential. This comes down to understanding people, and how we work best together.

We shape and deliver strategy for the business in areas like recruitment, learning, reward, and inclusion, to make sure we have the people, skills and perspectives we need to deliver for our customers.

About the programme

Our aim is to give you a taste of what it’s like to work here, an important experience that will help guide your future career choices. We’ll reward you with a salary of £21,500 pro rata, depending on location.

The programme starts with an induction day, where you’ll learn about RBS, meet your fellow interns, and get the chance to talk with colleagues from around our business.

You’ll then begin a unique 10 week placement, where you’ll attend training workshops, get involved with our day to day work in Human Resources, and take part in a business project. This’ll give you the opportunity to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or change to support our ambitions.

During the programme, you’ll also work on a corporate social responsibility challenge. This’ll help you to develop keys skills including covering team working, planning, creative thinking, business plan writing and problem solving – all while contributing to a valuable cause. You’ll deliver your business plan on a specific day towards the end of the programme.

For the full 10 weeks, we’ll pair you with a buddy and a line manager, who’ll help you grow your network and provide guidance and support.

At the end of the placement, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully and we’ll offer you a place on our 2021 Human Resources graduate programme. From there you can carry forward the skills you’ve learned, and take the next step in your career.

About you

To be eligible for our internship programme, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of a university degree, and on course to achieve a 2:1.

If you’re passionate about understanding and supporting people then this would be a great choice of programme.

We will be looking out for people who show:

  • An inquisitive mind set, with the desire to bring new ideas forward
  • The ability to build great working relationships, based in understanding, empathy and trust
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges

If that sounds like you, then why not apply?
