The Opportunity

As a trainee at Irwin Mitchell, you will spend two years in the business legal services (BLS) stream, experiencing four different areas of law and getting to know the business more intimately. During your training contract, you will work in tandem with the paralegals, associates, senior associates and partners within each seat rotation. You’ll be given practical experience and a real insight into the unique culture of the nation’s leading full-service law firm.

You will undertake four seats in total, each within the BLS division. During your training contract, you will experience at least three different areas of law, including opportunities to develop your skills in both contentious and non-contentious work. You will evidence this by maintaining a training diary to record completed tasks against each of the nine practice skills standards.

We’d love to hear from candidates that have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the law and possess the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing business demands and priorities. We also look for candidates who have the capacity to use their initiative, think creatively and have good problem solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and attention to detail, both written and verbal.

We welcome applications from all degree types, provided you are able to start your training contract in 2022.

The potential seats available in the Gatwick office are; commercial/intellectual property, commercial litigation, corporate, employment, insolvency, real estate, real estate construction and real estate planning. Please note that these seats are subject to change and you will be asked for preferences if you are offered a training contract.
