The urban design studio is part of the Savills planning division. With over 200 people within the planning division throughout the UK, Savills has the largest planning team of any mainstream real estate practice, with a reputation for success and professionalism. Savills handles all types of property, but have specialisms in urban mixed use, housing, retail, major sports venues, energy, master planning, urban design, environmental impact assessment, community engagement, heritage, and Section 106 agreements/Community Infrastructure Levy.

DAY TO DAY WORK

As an urban design graduate you will be expected to assist with urban design related and multi-disciplinary projects covering urban regeneration projects, development master plans, urban extensions, new settlements, strategic land promotions and urban design advice. You will also help produce site and place making assessments, architectural designs, guides and codes, public consultation, and masterplan feasibility studies.. No day will be the same within the pathway, where you will be constantly learning and expanding your knowledge.

FIXED SEAT

All of the necessary experience is gained by being based in a single office, whilst being part of the national Urban Design Studio, by working on a range of projects and alongside specialists within the company

TRAINING

Graduates are expected to have a good design knowledge and skills, relevant qualifications in design and built environment (such as urban design, architecture, landscape architecture).

Our training and development regime is one of the best in the property industry, and is geared towards enabling our people to reach their full potential.

As a graduate, you'll also have regular opportunities to attend technical, business skills and personal development activities - including conferences, courses, lectures, networking, and social events - which compliment both your practical experience and meet the theoretical requirements of your Urban Design related qualification.

You will be assigned a mentor who support you throughout the two year training programme.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Once you've successfully passed your qualification and become a Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design you'll continue to receive training and career development opportunities. We ensure that your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is current and that all staff are fully up-to-date with changes to legislation and business needs.
