Cummins are now recruiting for our 2020 intake of 12 month placements in the UK, which provide a meaningful opportunity for university students to accomplish real-world projects in a professional environment.

The role of Human Resources Placement will be to act as an integral member of a busy HR Team and will support key projects throughout the year. This role involves dealing directly with employees, supervisors and management on subjects such as company policy, recruitment, employee support, contracts, employment law and absence management.

  • Develop good understanding of and assist in the updating and administration of Cummins HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain HR documentation, eg exit interview data, photo library, organisation charts and work instructions.
  • Coordinate the Cummins Driver Safety Training and Driver License Checks.
  • Support the administrative role of the IMechE chartership scheme.
  • Support internal and external recruitment including advertising, coordinating applications, liaising with managers and arranging and supporting interviews.
  • Support new HR initiatives and participate in HR lead projects.
  • Attendance at disciplinary and grievance meetings, taking minutes and collating all relevant information.
  • Sourcing information, interpreting data, developing solutions and implementing changes to achieve results to agreed deadlines.
  • Support the department on key tasks and projects, support team members both independently and within teams.
  • Any other generalist HR duties as required by the department.

Qualifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources or Business related subject required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent IT skills to include Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible and proactive attitude with a desire to learn and take on responsibility.
  • Experience of working within the HR function will be advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Training in Corporate systems such as Oracle, and familiarisation with other business software.
  • Coaching to enable the development of other business skills.
  • 4 x 1 day workshops through an external training provider: Adapting to Professional Environments, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills, Team Work, Customer Care.
  • Internal Placement and Graduate Networks.
  • Time management and organisation skills.
  • Six Sigma awareness training.
