Cummins are now recruiting for our 2020 intake of 12 month placements in the UK, which provide a meaningful opportunity for university students to accomplish real-world projects in a professional environment.

If successful on the programme you may be given the opportunity to work part-time during your final year of study and/or be offered the opportunity to return as a graduate.

The successful candidate will work within the Electrified Power Business Unit – Systems Engineering team based within the Milton Keynes Battery Technical Centre. The role provides opportunity to participate within team of systems engineers and technicians supporting systems engineering across battery projects.

The student will be part of a team on a given battery project and involved in all aspects of the systems engineering of high voltage battery packs for large vehicle application to include requirements capture, validation test planning, performing tests, and failure analysis, amongst other functions.

The student will be expected to interact with the larger engineering team as well as working with external test houses and will be involved in running performance, mechanical and abuse testing of the batteries both internally and externally.

Qualifications

We are looking for a student with an interest in systems, testing and Li-ion batteries. Studying for a technical degree in any of the following fields:

  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

Other Science / Engineering Degrees are also considered.

During the placement a mentor will be provided and they will provide regular coaching throughout the 12 months. The role will also work closely with other engineers. Safe working and protocol familiarisation training will be provided. Access to, and training in, the use of industry standard tools for analysing and elaborating test data will also be given.
