ASML is constantly pushing the limits of technology into areas where nobody has gone before. The Tribology competence team takes responsibility for the realization of the interface of wafer tables and clamps with the wafer. The challenge is to go down to very low levels of predictable and stable friction forces that are needed for the required overlay performance, while securing the position of the wafer during imaging and allowing minimum wear impact or enabling methods to recover. This requires close cooperation with the surface scientists within the group who focus on the chemical and physical interactions that take place with the environment and affect the tribology performance.
As part of the Tribology & Surface Science group you will be allocated to the multi-disciplinary projects that take responsibility to deliver DUV Wafer Tables, EUV Wafer Clamps and Wafer Table Cleaning units. Your contribution is to ensure the required tribology performance of the wafer contacting surfaces.
MSc or PhD degree in:
Relevant working experience of 2+ years in the field of tribology.

Context of the position
The holder of this position reports to the Group Lead of MC DE DEF C Tribology&Surface Science. The D&E group Tribology & Surface Science is responsible for realizing and preserving surface properties over time in order to secure wafer clamping performance in both DUV and EUV platforms.
This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.
