We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor (m/f/d) in full-time position for our site in Burgwedel. In this role you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the laboratory, production, and utility equipment in the building(s) within the jurisdiction of the Human health areas. The Manager is responsible for management of the skilled craft mechanics in the associated maintenance shop.

ACCOUNTABILITY -

Ensure that objectives are achieved while reliably supplying quality product at a competitive cost consistent with MSD, Regulatory Agency, and Local code requirements for quality, good manufacturing practices (GMP), equal employment opportunity, finances, labor, employee, environment and safety - Tactical and strategic management, including collaboration with indirect staff - Promote the behaviors and principles that drive continuous improvement.

DUTIES Compliance - Responsible for creating and sustaining a culture that ensures that compliance (Safety, Environment, cGMP, etc.) are imperatives for the business. Responsible for establishing a Right First Time culture by reducing waste and constantly driving continuous improvement. Responsible to review and approve compliance documents, as per procedures or need. - Supply – Support meetings (Tier, Muster, etc.). Exercise judgment and decision making to ensure quality product is reliably produced while managing cost. Responsible for Group metrics (Attendance, Schedule Adherence, PM/Safety Compliance etc.) - Continuous Improvement - Accountable for developing a MSD Production System (MPS) and continuous improvement culture while achieving MPS Targets and business results for the Maintenance team. Develop strategic initiatives related to the manufacturing process, equipment and human resources in support of long range operating plans. Report monthly metrics and any action plans to address gaps to the Maintenance Lead. Identify, prioritize, and champion improvement projects to improve process efficiency, cycle time, and yield, reduce process variability, and eliminate waste - Financial Stewardship – Accountable for meeting the Maintenance operating budget and continuously reducing cost. Ensure members of the Maintenance team have business acumen and understand how they may impact business finances - People Management – Responsible for creating and sustaining a highly engaged workforce through utilization of MSD Leadership Behaviors and Inclusion. Provide coaching on professional development and career paths. Provide timely feedback and performance evaluations for direct reports after obtaining the relevant input and evaluation. Provide feedback and input on performance evaluations for indirect staff. Qualifications -

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering, Science or related field -
  • Several years of experience in a production and/or calibration and/or maintenance background
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills
  • Working knowledge regulatory requirements in accordance with GMP manufacturing operations
  • Experience with GMP compliant calibration and maintenance databases
  • SAP experience related to plant maintenance and spare parts procurement systems
  • Experience with formal problem-solving techniques, such as root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA, and/or Lean Six Sigma tools)
  • Familiarity of “World Class” maintenance practices is paramount (e.g. PMs, PdM, etc.)
  • Fully proficient in understanding the functionality of all utility generation equipment (e.g. electrical distribution, clean utilities - WFI/clean steam, Autoclaves, HVAC, Filling equipment, packing equipment, and utility generation equipment
  • Utility and HVAC system process improvement and optimization experience
  • Technical writing and deviation investigation experience
  • Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with cGMPs and vaccine regulatory requirements
  • Language skill required: German and English
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Project management, including change control and equipment qualification
  • SAP experience related to plant maintenance and spare parts procurement systems - cGMP experience in a sterile, bulk or finished pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience in automation and manufacturing execution systems, process modeling, and process improvement
  • Mechanical functionality and reliability knowledge (asset management)
  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certification
