The town has one of the finest stretches of sea shore on the South Coast and claims "to have retained all the best qualities of English life since the turn of the [19th] century whilst managing to avoid most of the unpleasant influences that have plagued so many other towns." Enjoying a blend of traditional and modern surroundings and amenities, it's little wonder that Dr Leslie Weatherhead, Methodist preacher and bestselling writer, thought Bexhill an ideal spot for an MHA home.Dr Weatherhead was a former minister of the City Temple in London. Not only did he advocate looking for a site in Bexhill; in memory of his wife he also donated funds for the lift. Appropriately it was Dr Weatherhead who opened the home on 3 March 1971.Or for more information about the home please visit here
