These 3x positions are open to both candidates at graduate level and those looking for an entry level actuarial position.

This role sits within the Actuarial Valuation Policyholder team within the wider Prudential UK Finance Reporting team. The role holder will be expected to contribute to supporting the financial strength of the business by successfully balancing the competing demands of commerciality and prudence in a well governed and controlled environment. In addition the role holder will be expected to contribute to the creation of an agile team which is responsive to changing market conditions and customer requirements and the delivery of efficient and optimised processes.

Purpose statements:

  • To support and enable the production and maintenance of actuarial information for analysis, models, reports, regulatory returns or MI systems
  • To support the delivery of technical change projects within Finance where required
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in Prudential UK’s operational risk.

Knowledge statements:

  • Basic knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative environment and reporting metrics
  • Basic knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Basic knowledge of Prudential products, systems and distribution methods
  • Working knowledge of with-profits, annuities and unit-linked business (plus others as relevant)
  • Some knowledge of how governance, risk and compliance processes impact on Prudential
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft office packages (e.g. Excel)

Skills and experience statements:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Some experience of developing relationships with key contacts across the Finance teams and understanding of how sub-functions within Finance are structured and aligned
  • Some experience of gathering financial information and of creating routine technical communication materials (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages)
  • Some experience of presenting financial information and sharing findings and results, building an understanding of audience specific communication requirements
  • Some experience of providing financial information and technical communication materials to support planning and decision making
  • Some experience of assisting the clear articulation and dissemination of quality information to internal and external stakeholders including regulators and rating agencies
  • Experience of asking the right questions and listening effectively to gain an understanding of stakeholders’ needs and expectations
  • Some experience of actively seeking out opportunities to learn about new developments and develop knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Trainee actuary (optional)
