Babcock is a leading provider of critical, complex engineering services across defence, emergency services and civil nuclear markets in the UK and more widely across the globe.

Our business in Plymouth is a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

To make the most of the opportunities Babcock has to offer, you’ll need to have great technical skills, along with the drive and aspiration to develop your career. Our graduates will have the opportunity to use and apply their knowledge and skills, gained from either engineering or business degrees, to help us deliver our world-class programmes, develop new technologies and offer innovative solutions for our customers.

Your development programme will have a strong focus on undertaking a number of different placements which will be agreed in line with evolving business requirements and provide you with a high level of on-the-job training. You will also be given the fantastic opportunity to network and share your experiences through our modular two-year graduate development programme. Through these experiences you will understand the pivotal role you will play in our future success, how we function as an organisation, the importance of our customers and the wider business environment in which we operate.

OUR LOCATIONS

Depending on your programme your home base could be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. However, some of your placements may be at other Marine sector locations. As many of our programmes are available at more than one location you will have the opportunity, at the end of the online application form, to select a second and/or third choice location that you would want your application to be considered for.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Babcock is an advanced user of information and decision support analytics. Through the provision of our information support and exploitation teams, we provide information and decision support at the point of need. This directly enables the most critical parts of our business to make decisions when they count.

Working within the Analytics stream you’ll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects building your core IX/IM capabilities, as well as developing broader skills along the way. Capability areas include: mathematical modelling and simulation, advanced statistical analysis, predictive analysis, web development, data visualisation, information related technology development and strategy development. Along the way, you’ll partner up with a lot of different teams within Babcock and learn from them as you go.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

A senior manager will take you under their wing and help you navigate the challenges and develop your professional skills. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a competitive starting salary of £29k - £31k and on-the-job training that’s hard to beat.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for a 2:1 (Hons) degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operational Research or Computer Science. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).
