The CHB Supervisor is responsible for leading the Customs House Brokerage team with the following responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead the Customs House Brokerage team
  • Operations delivery: Drive CHB delivery targets internally and to customers
  • Data quality & Process improvement: Ensure data integrity and drive for process efficiency
  • Audit & Miscellaneous: Compliance and cooperation

In this role you will be responsible for the main activities in the area of Value Added Service operations delivery, ensuring data integrity, supporting process efficiency and compliance and cooperation related to AEO and customer requirements.

Additionally, the Supervisor Customs House Brokerage is part of the larger CSO team and flexibility to help out in other departments, when specifically agreed upfront, is a pre-requisite.

Key responsibilities

Leadership

  • Drive operational excellence: Understand KPI dynamics and organize accordingly the team
  • Report handling and follow up
  • Manage the Customs House Brokerage team
  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in providing durable services
  • Assign tasks and interpret company policies and procedures
  • Ensure optimal cross functional working conditions
  • Responsible for the team performance
  • Deliver a team working approach within the departments by
  • Leading, coaching, directing and motivating the team
  • Ensuring team and individual performance and development
  • File and update skills matrix for the CHB team individuals
  • Achieving company and department KPI’s
  • Attract, retain, train and develop the people
  • Be the owner of CHB IOP’s
  • Manage AEO and fiscal representation compliance
  • Passion to drive Customs legislations and the ability to communicate/translate this to peer levels

Operations

  • Drive CHB delivery targets for the customers
  • Customize the product as per the needs of clients and foster the culture of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure accurate revenue and cost data is maintained for CHB clients
  • Troubleshoot operational issues/escalations

Data quality & Process improvement

  • Ensure integrity of data entered into system
  • Actively contribute to data quality cooperating with OPS/CS department; create awareness of customs quality
  • Create, adhere to and maintain IOP's /SOP's on customs topics; general and customer specific
  • Quality check (customs clearance/fiscal representation) instruction according to customer SOP and in line with customs legislation
  • Identify the areas of improvement & implementation of process improvement initiative
  • Actively contribute to the reduction in DSO (Accounts receivable) & recommend suitable actions to Customer Service Teams

Audit & Miscellaneous

  • Ensure adherence to AEO standards, comply to and secure AEO license
  • Perform regular internal audit of customs files according to AEO standards
  • Meet up with Customer Service and OPS supervisors on a regular basis for query resolution
  • Drive accurate processes customs clearance on import, export and transit document handling according to the UCC legislation

  • Certified Customs Broker –“Declarant”
  • Proficient MS Excel and MS Word and MS Outlook skills
  • Adequate logistical knowledge
  • Knowledge of Fiscal Representation and VAT legislation

Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in leadership role
  • Acquainted with international business environments
  • 5+ years of operational knowledge in the area of Customs House Brokerage
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently
  • Well organized when working under pressure
  • Understand Lean principles, use Lean methodic to organize/lead
  • Working knowledge of relevant systems as AGS, Portbase
