Description

We are seeking a Process Analytical Specialist to deliver innovative measurement solutions in process applications utilizing some of the most technologically advanced on-line measurements in the chemical industry. The position will be located in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

The role will extend through a range of online analytical technologies including; Gas Chromatography, Titration, infra-red (IR), near infrared (NIR), Laser based spectrometers and Raman analyzers. This role will include leading projects and multi-disciplinary teams across several Dow businesses. The person can also serve as a subject matter expert related to process analyzer engineering activities such as; P&ID/drawing reviews, sample handling design, nozzles or cell installations. Basic knowledge of chemical process will be required.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Utilize analytical technology to solve manufacturing issues and enhance process efficiency.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in at least one Analytical Technique: On-line Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography, Electrochemistry, General Analytical Chemistry (TOC, BOD, pH, Conductivity, Gas Detection, Chemical Sensors, etc).Develop and Implement complex analytical chemometric models to enhance the capabilities of various spectroscopic analytical measurements.
  • Manage projects with small teams of people from different backgrounds and roles.
  • Communicate with clients on projects value, expectations, and progress. (stakeholder communication).
  • Scoping new technology recognize opportunity to develop new applications determine testing protocols and plans of action. Lead the development of these technologies for concept shaping through implementation.
  • Document work in internal reporting systems, external publications and patent applications.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following Analytical Techniques: Gas Chromatography, Titrations, IR, NIR, UV, Raman (related skills such as Analytical Modeling). In addition having some chemical process experience is strongly preferred.
  • Multi-disciplinary team collaborations is preferred. Strong teamwork.
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with developing communication plans.
  • Direct experience with technology/application development and experimentation.
  • Direct experience with documentation of academic journals, patents, and/or internal publications.
  • Fluent in English

Preferred skills:

  • Chemical sensor development and chemometric modelling.
  • Analyzer Engineering skills such as; drawing reviews, sample system design, nozzles or cell installations.
  • Knowledge of sample system design, analyzer engineering principles and project management.

Education:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Physics with at least 5 years of related industry experience is required.
