The Product and Marketing Lifting Agreement (PMLA) is an agreement between DOW and the Sadara Chemical Company – a Joint Venture between Dow and Aramco in Saudi Arabia – that defines Dow’s responsibility to efficiently market and sell the Sadara produced products. The PMLA Financial Compliance Group has unique opportunities through the breadth of activities that include Accounts Receivables, Cost Accounting, CISS, and Treasury with specific work processes like Product Costing, Inventory Analysis, Invoice Payments, Freight and Deductibles, Sales Rebates, Customer Accommodations, and Marketing Fees that reside within the Compliance Group’s scope. The team is utilizing a newly by Dow developed system called MARS (Marketing Agreement Reporting System), ECC and several core Dow work processes for compliance and related financial closing activities.

The PMLA Financial Compliance Group has an open position for an Inventory Accountant/Analyst, located in Terneuzen, Netherlands, who is motivated by the challenges and rewards of working in a new and growing organization. This role is responsible for the execution of multiple work process activities supporting the PMLA with the primary focus in the area of inventory related transactions to help ensure the accuracy of the inventory records for PMLA inventory uplifted and sold by Dow as well as support the financial statement analysis of the PMLA inventory transactions on the respective business balance sheets and income statements by being the primary financial interface with multiple Dow work processes and functions to achieve the desired results.

Responsibilities (Commensurate with experience):

  • Perform data analysis and identify the correct prices to be used for the Inventory Valuation and perform Product Costing.
  • Analyze the Aging of the PMLA inventory and summarize to management findings of results and the financial impact on Dow.
  • Perform specific tasks to ensure timely invoice payments and accurate compliance with the PMLA’s billing and reporting requirements related to inventory, especially in regards to inquiries made by Sadara.
  • Collaborate with team members and Dow partners on PMLA compliance matters.
  • Assist in the monthly and annual closing process by performing Accruals, Adjustments to the GR/IR Valuation, Reclassifications, and Financial Statement Analysis.
  • Understand and apply accounting principles commensurate with areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the team’s activities have current work process documentation in a well-organized manner.
  • Identify work process improvements and actively participate with solution development/implementation.
  • Identify and organize data defects from source ECC transactions for engagement with core Dow work processes for resolution.
  • Support leadership team with various activities and projects for work process improvements and achievement of metrics.
  • Work with co-workers to ensure proper internal controls and procedures are in place.
  • Support in developing the responses to inquiries of both internal and external auditors.
  • Interface as required with Dow businesses for understanding of the PMLA transactions.
  • Obtain and maintain the highest degree of systems knowledge for MARS, ECC and other supporting technologies and tools (Microsoft Office Suite, Business Objects, Visual Basic, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc presentations and reporting related to the PMLA Financial Compliance Group activities.

Required Qualifications (Commensurate with experience):

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain cost accounting.
  • Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to apply accounting policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and motivate others in a team environment.
  • Able to work in a global team environment made up of a cross section of disciplines (both technical and non-technical).
  • Able to work effectively in an environment of rapid change and increasing complexity.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Dow accounting experience (SAP/ECC) and MS application skills such as ACCESS, EXCEL, EXCEL MACROS and WORD are preferred.
  • Fluent in English

Education: Master's Degree in Accounting is required
