Spend your Summer at Centrica and get ahead of the game with one of our Summer Placements.

Are you a talented undergraduate looking to get a head start with your career? Our placements last for 10 weeks, and offer you the opportunity to work on real projects with real responsibility, while benefiting from a wide support network of colleagues, a line manager and the Graduate talent manager. Our aim is to help you build your strengths, gain skills and stand out from the crowd.

Locations: UK-wide, with accommodation provided locally

Salary: £17,500 per annum pro rata (£336 per week)

Entry requirement:- Minimum 2:1 degree. You should be in your penultimate year but we accept applications from final year & postgraduate students providing you have a plan to start graduate employment in September/October 2020, if you are successful in securing a graduate position with us after your 10 weeks.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US

In return for your hard work and initiative, we will give you the support to make the most of the experience. You'll be:

  • Supported by a graduate talent manager assigned to your business area and responsible for overseeing your performance and development
  • Paired with a 'buddy' from our previous graduate or summer placement intake to help you settle in and answer any questions
  • Assigned a line manager with experience of the area of business in which you are placed

Beyond this support, we will provide you with accommodation close to your placement. With other students also based in the area, you'll have a ready-made network wherever you end up.

The Summer Placement Programme offers a real-life look at what it might mean to be a Centrica graduate. If you perform well in your placement, you could even return to your university with an offer to join the graduate programme after your graduation.

"The best thing about the summer placement was how much responsibility I was given. Right from the start, I had full ownership of projects that I knew would make an impact on the business, and would continue to do so after my ten weeks were up. You’re pushed out of your comfort zone, which is great – it helps you to develop skills you didn’t know you had."

"There are three shifts driving change in the energy market and in our business: decentralisation of the energy system, customer power and digitalisation. Our strategy means that Centrica can react quickly and flexibly to these changes, and is strongly positioned to meet the needs of our customers, now and in the future."
Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive

These macro-trends are driving changes in the energy landscape:

Decentralisation - Globally, as we pursue lower carbon and more efficient solutions, the energy system is becoming decentralised with more technologies available and viable, close to the customer.

Digitalisation - Technological developments, both physical and digital, are accelerating the pace of change. Capability in these areas is key to keeping up with customers and their changing needs.

Power to the customer - As a result of increased choice and alternatives, the customer is becoming more powerful. Owning the relationship with customers and satisfying their needs is critical to our success.

These trends demand we deliver more decentralised technologies and propositions, stronger digital capabilities, and give our customers a better and more personalised service.
That’s why we’ve put ‘satisfying the changing needs of our customers’ at the heart of our strategy.
