Position Summary

The Graduate Construction Engineer is responsible for assisting in the execution of construction deliverables in accordance with the design documentation and specific project requirements while complying with JACOBS Safety, Quality and Project Execution procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Assignment of Duties

  • Duties are assigned on a day to day basis by the assigned Construction Supervisor and objectives are set on a twice-yearly basis by the Construction Manager. Duties assigned usually fall into one or more of the following broad areas:

Planning

  • To ensure that all work within his/her scope of responsibility is completed within the accepted project schedule.
  • To report on a regular basis to the Construction Supervisor on project progress and/or areas of concern.

Technical Participation

  • To ensure timely and correct review of all project specifications, designs, drawings and requisitioning for areas of responsibility assigned to him/her.
  • To ensure any outstanding or incorrect information on the design information is highlighted and the queries directed to the design team for resolution
  • To provide any necessary technical assistance to other design disciplines assigned to the project as instructed by the Construction Supervisor.

Project Liaison

  • To attend project meetings as requested
  • To ensure the Construction Supervisor is fully aware of any problems affecting his/her in the production of deliverables or timely completion of any assigned work.

Client Liaison

  • To assist in reviewing the client’s documentation for acceptability and ensure this is updated as instructed by the Construction Supervisor.
  • To refer all client requests for deviation to the scope to the Construction Supervisor, the request should indicate both cost and schedule impact where possible.

Qualifications

  • 2:1 Degree in Construction Engineering/Management.
