Food Microbiologist - Specialized Nutrition

(Fulltime, Utrecht)

In this role you will work on the roadmap to built the tools and guidance to reach full compliance in all Supply Point laboratories.

Main responsibilities:

Standard Operating Methods for the Lab Community

  • Write SOP for microbiological methods and other microbiological documents (official for community) as recommended by the Analytical Governance Manager Food Microbiology and in conjunction with the Senior Microbiologist. Priority given to ELN methods, integrating medical products (SN scope) when method also applicable for medical products (at least some). Deliverables references in AE micro roadmap 2019. Maintenance of (annual review) and publication of the documents for Supply Points labs
  • Collect information on local Regulatory needs and methods, compare with global methods; keep up to date with new trends in microbiological methods and equipment, and changes in standards and regulations

Support other Analytical Excellence Workstreams

  • Contribute to the Analytical Excellence program to ensure that the Supply Point Microbiology laboratories perform according to the Danone standards (including Analytical Governance Directive) and are using fit for purpose methods for process control and product release (support for audits and troubleshooting).
  • Support Micro Workstream presentations as part of AE program

Contacts with Supply Points on specific topics

  • Assist SP Labs in verification and roll out of standard methods and new equipment
  • Collate results of Microbiological Proficiency Scheme (central and local) compile report and follow up action plan led by Senior Microbiologist and follow up on RCA (gather info only)

Animate Microbiology Lab Workplace Group with any relevant AE /GLP information

  • SOP for microbiological methods and other microbiological documents (official for community) as recommended by the Analytical Governance Manager Food Microbiology and in conjunction with the Senior Microbiologist. Maintenance of (annual review) and publication of the documents for Supply Points labs. In 2019 Analytical Excellence road map following standards are expected to be delivered: Salmonella, Lm/spp, CB, Ebm, SRC (Sulphite Reducing Clostridia), CPS detection & Enumeration (Staph),Strep thermophilus, Enterococci and other supportive processes and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Collect information on local Regulatory needs and methods, compare with global methods; keep up to date with new trends in microbiological methods and equipment, and changes in standards and regulations

About you:

  • Master or bachelor degree in Microbiology with 2 - 5 years of experience in food microbiology lab, preferably working with Infant Formula
  • Knowledge of latest ISO standard methods
  • Knowledge of (and preferably for having worked in) ISO 17025 accredited lab
  • Enthusiasm & patience to ensure harmonized and verified methods across Specialized Nutrition organization in all geographical region
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
