At NatWest Markets we’re creating something different, and we’re looking for people with the passion and creativity to join us.

We’re a growing investment banking business that values entrepreneurship and innovation, so you’ll get to take responsibility and make a real contribution early in your career.

About the business area

NatWest Markets chooses to operate in product areas where it is a leading global bank: Interest rates, fixed income, currencies and structure finance. We serve businesses across the spectrum including financial institutions, large corporates, sovereigns, regional banks, hedge funds, and asset managers.

Our success comes from being customer focused, collaborative, fast moving, innovative and highly skilled at trading risk. We focus on building a deep understanding of our clients and being the first to bring them ideas.

We’re looking for the right people to join us in the client facing parts of our business.

Our Trading and Flow Sales business is building its market making, risk management and thought leadership capabilities across global traded markets.

Our Financing & Risk Solutions business delivers complex and innovative capital markets, financing and risk management projects for large and sophisticated clients.

About the programme

As a graduate, we’ll get you working with your new team as quickly as possible so you can learn the business first hand and become an important part of the team. Before this, you’ll be part of an intensive training programme where you’ll learn a mix of practical knowledge, technical market skills, and how to build the internal network that is essential for your success.

We strongly support the development of our people. After your initial training you’ll get support from the Analyst and Associate programme which is a learning journey to help you with your first steps in the banking industry. It covers:

• Technical training across all product areas to develop your skills

• Access to industry leaders who give live talks

• The opportunity to network with peers and develop the soft skills needed to be successful

We pride ourselves on the professional support we offer, and the welcoming and collaborative community our graduates have shaped.

We’ll pair you with a ‘buddy’ who is an Analyst or Associate, and who’ll be there to help you get settled, answer any questions, and share their experiences. You’ll also have a mentor who’ll provide support and help you shape your career.

We’ll reward you with a competitive starting salary, and on top of this you’ll also have access to our flexible benefits package.

About you

To be eligible for this programme you’ll need to hold or be on course to achieving at least a 2:1 or equivalent in your degree. We encourage applications from a diverse range of degree disciplines including STEM, language and arts backgrounds.

We’re looking for passionate people, and innovative thinkers with the drive to succeed.

We’re also looking for:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to adapt to change

• A strong customer focus

• The ability to deliver to tight deadlines

• Strong analytical skills

A Western European language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch or Swedish) at a fluent level is required for some roles.

For some of our roles whose client focus is in the EU, you may be required to relocate to one of European locations if the business requires.

Please include a cover letter with your application telling us why you are interested in working in investment banking.
