Qualifications: You must have, or be predicted to gain, a Bachelors or Masters 2:1degree classification or above in Computing, Business Management or STEM discipline.

About the role

In an era of disruptive digital and market forces, in order to stay efficient and competitive, we need to consider the technology requirements of our business in the medium and longer term. Our Enterprise Architecture Team develops strategies and defines National Grid’s technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities. To help guide National Grid towards optimal IT investment decisions for the future, they have to know our existing technology inside out and keep up to date with the latest innovations. They also manage our digital transformation initiatives using latest technologies including Big Data, Robotic Process Automation, Cyber Security and Machine Learning.

What you'll do

You could be:

  • Developing future scenarios and analysing their potential effects on National Grid’s business
  • Investigating and evaluating leading edge technologies against our IT Principles
  • Ensuring alignment between proposed and existing technology solutions
  • Working with people across the business to help provide the best experience for our employees and customers
  • Working closely with our strategic vendors, industry analysts and attending vendor conferences to maintain up-to-date understanding of IT trends and directions, the capabilities of leading platforms and how best to use them
  • Balancing and prioritising the technology needs of diverse stakeholders across the business
  • Creating and maintaining architecture standards and documents to keep us secure and compliant, and to make sure that we consistently adopt leading practice and avoid ‘reinventing the wheel’
  • Evaluating risks against anticipated benefits whilst encouraging innovation and better outcomes

What's in it for you

Enterprise Architecture is a great choice if you want to be involved in helping shape our technology strategy to meet our business goals. You could be involved in initiating and managing IT programmes which support strategic business change. You will interact with teams across the whole of IT and employees across the business, and vendors who supply our technology platforms. If you have a strategic mindset and are excited about working at the forefront of digital transformation, this is the team for you.

What you'll get

You will receive a starting salary of £28,105 (or £29,127 if you hold a Masters) and a £2000 joining bonus. You will also have access to a number of additional benefits such as 25 days’ holiday, a generous completion payment, an accommodation allowance as you move around the business, a competitive pension scheme and a number of flexible benefits to name just a few.
