Background & Role:

IMCD will push a Global RA/QA/sustainability function where Regulatory and quality data, performance and risk mitigation will be handled on a global/regional and local level in order to reduce, risk, protect the company and its clients. Next to this the function also is responsible for sustainability where we implement reporting metric on GHG and ethics. Next to these we will also assist the business with sustainability initiatives and strategy. To execute the strategy and to ensure compliance and risk mitigation in the various stringent regulatory regions, the organization needs to re-organize itself into a global function with regional managers ensuring execution and adherence to the global strategy by measuring KPI’s and drive improvement on these. Next to regional activities each regional functional team will house one center of expertise to serve the whole group (globally). (EMEA, will focus on hazard data management and integration with systems; America’s will focus on servicing the American continent; APAC will focus on customer service and questionnaires).

At the heart of the sustainability functions will lie the data analysis that needs to be done and strategic consultancy for the business. Out internal resources include a global chemical regulatory database to assess hazard. We plan to also implement a sustainability reporting metric and to help our business groups develop value proposition which include sustainability as driver.

The Sustainability expert is experienced and skilled in the quantitative and strategic sustainability field, which includes familiarity with topics such as GHG reporting, ethical sourcing, water reporting, LCA, strategy,

the role will be part of the group RAQS organization and will report directly to the group Director RA/QA Sustainability.

He or she ensures the collection, management implement execution and followup as well as providing consultancy on a strategic level for our business groups. Global insurance that the products which we sell are compliant with the regional legislations (REACH, TSCA, Biocides, Pharma etc etc).

He/She focusses on reducing and gaining insight in environmental impact reduction and will focus local organizations on reporting. As IMCD is regularly acquiring other companies a second aspect lies in integrating product information of new companies and screening their data against our compliance system and sustainability standards to investigate deviations and lift the information to meet our global standards.

This new team is established on top of the current localized item master management responsibilities and empowered to control workflows, approvals and authorizations, whilst still acting in a hands-on and supporting way as characteristic for IMCD's company culture.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the group Carbon reporting program in cooperation with supply chain and IT
  • Develop standard methods and processes to guarantee we can execute this year on year
  • Maintain a database and provide sustainability data for products whilst also steering on gathering for strategic purposes per business
  • Help our business groups with developing their strategy which includes sustainability as their value proposition
  • Help and be the hands-on contact for M&A integration regarding sustainable product data,
  • Perform analysis on key sustainability parameters to ensure risk mitigation and certificate creation for products
  • Govern new product definition and change management processes with flexible and collaborative workflows;
  • Be up to date with current and future sustainability programs (eg, PEF), UN global compact, Ecovadis etc) and ensure the business and group level are well prepared to meet them on time

Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in industrial ecology, environmental science, chemistry, business
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the field, industry and or consultancy
  • Knowledge of carbon reporting
  • Basic Knowledge of the chemical regulatory field
  • Fluent in English, an additional language is considered a bonus
