The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Area Manager- EMEAI/APAC in Europe, location is flexible. This role will report to the regional environmental director EMEAI & APAC. The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Effective implementation of standardized ADM Environmental programs and systems to ensure compliance with corporate and local requirements for their assigned locations
  • Establish a sustainable environmental improvement culture across the sites in the region based on continuous improvement through environmental management system. This role will provide technical and managerial direction to ensure the ADM’s regional environmental objectives are met.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report regional area environmental performance and suggest corrective/preventive actions to further improve performance.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively to achieve the goals.
  • Provide Environmental support in the region for permits, root cause analyses, sharing best practices, implementing the ADM standards and negotiations with authorities
  • Take part in Regional or Country trade associations
  • Track and advise on new or upcoming legislation
  • Lead and participate in regional compliance audits and assessments including Due Diligence
  • Facilitate Training & development of the EHS professionals in the region.
  • Reports to the EMEA-APAC Regional Environmental Director

The Candidate

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or other related field
  • Qualified management system auditor (External accreditation body)
  • Willing to frequently travel to the sites (approx. 25-30% of the time).
  • Minimum of 5 year experience in a similar role, preferably in a process industrial environment
  • Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results focused approach
  • Strong leadership and change management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, acts as a reliable pro-active communicator
  • Good project/program management skills
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to bridge cross-cultural boundaries
  • Fluency in English and another relevant language. A third language is preferred
