Job Description

Team: Materials Processes and Test. Day to day activity will be managed by the local industrial supervisor. This will be a single point of contact managing the intern during their interaction with a number of project leaders within the technology teams detailed below.

Task & accountabilities :

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include

The UK Materials Processes and Test team consists of a number of different technology groups: Assembly Technology, Composite Technology, Metals Technology, Surface Technology, Wing Test Centre and Failure Analysis Laboratories. The role will require the successful candidate to perform projects, tasks and activities within one or more of the technology groups.

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • The desire to work in a technical team environment.
  • Have sound basic knowledge of engineering and/or materials
  • Have had an introduction to the properties of metals and composites and know the relative pros/cons of each material
  • Have some awareness of aircraft wing structure
  • Be studying for a relevant engineering (Aerospace, Chemical, Mechanical) or science (Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science) degree.
