GENERAL SUMMARY

Assist with the smooth running of the Hub and Drivers to which you are assigned. Working closely and providing support to the Regional and National Transport Manager. Maintaining the highest level of Customer Service at all times by ensuring all runs are covered, arranging cover where necessary. Attending Hub visits and encouraging other Drivers to attend.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively managing the team of drivers of the Hub to which you are assigned.
  • Liaising with the Regional and / or National Transport Manager with any issues.
  • Manage the Vehicle Maintenance process, including Pre-Operation Checks and Defect procedure.
  • Arranging recovery vehicles during breakdown, and where required rental vehicles.
  • Manage the Holiday Plan for the Hub, provide National Transport Supervisor with this information.
  • Responsible for arranging cover for van runs during times of absence.
  • Managing sickness absence, completing Return to Work interviews, returning the appropriate paperwork to HR and monitoring poor sickness / attendance by use of Bradford Absence Management Policy.
  • Monitor Hub Health and Safety report any issues to the Safety and Security Supervisor at Dumfries.
  • Responsible for accurate reporting of all customer returns from the Hub to Dumfries.
  • Ensure all customer returns are safely and securely packaged for return to Dumfries.
  • Monitor hub damages and provide feedback and follow up actions.
  • Insure all drivers scan to van and at POD.
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Carry out Performance Management Reviews with all drivers.
  • Responsible for regular communication and conflict resolution.
  • Assist in recruitment process for relief or full time drivers.
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of how the department impacts customers, both internal & external, and the department’s overall impact on the operation.
  • Aids the business where required.
  • Ensures that the business succeeds by providing the highest level of Customer Service at all times.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

Physical Activities:

In addition to office work, ability to grasp, bend, walk and lift up to 50 pounds.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience required

  • Managing a team.
  • Multi-drop deliveries.
  • Route planning.

Specialised Knowledge and Skills:

  • ADR Awareness
  • Basic PC skills required.
  • Leadership / Communication Skills (verbal and written)
  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence
