The Broughton plant manufactures wings for all airbus commercial aircraft and the programme team is responsible for end to end value stream through from the supply chain to the final customer delivery of the aircraft. This exciting internships offers experience of the whole aircraft value stream.

The single aisle programme team in Broughton is responsible for the wing Planning, Design, Manufacture, Cost, Quality and Delivery from the first sub component through to delivery to the airline customer.

As an intern you will work within one or more of the 4 programme pillars. These are focussed on.

  • Recurring cost and business performance.
  • Aircraft planning, CAPEX and Rate ramp up.
  • Aircraft design changes and introduction of aircraft modifications.
  • Supply chain management.

This placement will give you a strong grounding of the challenges faced by large corporations.

Our intern managers have first-hand experience of the early careers programmes in Airbus so are able to ensure that personal development goals as well as business goals are met during the placement.

Tasks:

Some examples of placement projects include:

  • Working transnationally across plants and final assembly lines to solve issues affecting airline customers.
  • Developing the long term strategy required to meet the quality and performance targets of the single aisle aircraft programme.
  • Implement design changes to the aircraft across the supply chain within the core manufacturing plants and into the final assembly lines.
  • Working on rate increase projects and the associated facilities and business requirements.
  • Develop detailed business cases for improvement projects and learn how to launch projects.
  • Practically apply lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Working on abnormalities within the supply chain to ensure the supplier performance is maintained.

This placement would be suitable for commercial, business management or engineering undergraduates and can be tailored to ensure personal learning objectives and requirements for coursework are met.

Our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • You must be an undergraduate for the duration of the placement studying towards a relevant degree.
  • This role requires communication across all management levels and across multiple stakeholders therefore excellent communication skills are required.
  • You should also have experience of working in groups or teams, and technical or aviation related interests outside of your studies are favourable.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing methods is a plus.
  • Language skills are a plus.
