Within the Physical and Chemical Analysis Department we are looking for candidates for an internship in the field of reinforcement fibers for use in Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes (RTP’s). RTP’s are used in the oil & gas industry and are currently being evaluated for use as hydrogen transport pipe, enabling the transition to sustainable energy.

Your assignment

The objective of your internship is to improve our technical understanding of reinforced thermoplastic pipes and the various reinforcement materials, such as glass fiber, aramid, steel, polyester and carbon fiber. The basis of your assignment is a literature review and desk research to identify and structure the publicly available information. It is important to perform this exercise based on a sound technical foundation with clear references.

Next to this, you will work in close contact with our marketing team to showcase the benefits of aramids. This may include customer visits, discussions with external research groups & universities and contacting other companies. Your findings will need to be transformed in a coherent and structured story with a clear conclusion and recommendations. Your primary workplace is Arnhem.

Your profile

We are looking for a down-to-earth, outgoing and flexible individual. Eligible students of universities (academic level) in the direction of (technical) physics, materials science/engineering, chemical engineering and/or technical business studies.

Furthermore:

  • Knowledge of material science and material behavior;
  • Experience in research methods e.g. literature reviews, desk research;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Highly developed communication and personal skills;
  • Capable of easily transferring technical knowledge to commercial people and customers;
  • Excellent command of English spoken and written.

Period

The internship is available immediately and has a minimum duration of 4 months (start and duration of the internship period are open for discussion depending on the possibilities).
