In this role you'll be involved in evaluating financial data to make underwriting decisions on all types of proposals submitted by retailers and partners. Additionally, a key responsibility of the role is to make quick and responsible lending decisions. On a daily basis you'll be involved in the following:

  • Responsible for underwriting proposals within an approved authority limit per customer / individual deal.
  • Make effective underwriting decisions within the time standards agreed with retailers.
  • Accept or decline credit applications including negotiation of terms.
  • Evaluate applications to highlight potential fraud and money laundering cases.
  • Discuss proposals with Retailers, Partners and internal staff at all levels effectively.
  • Deal with Business Managers, Regional Managers and Internal teams to gain acceptance for difficult or unpopular decisions.
  • Make commercially sound decisions while balancing the need to maximise levels of accepted business.

Qualifications and Experience

The Individual

  • Ideally will you will have worked within a similar Underwriting position within the financial services sector
  • Located near Farnborough, Hampshire or within a reasonable commuting distance from our offices
  • Available to start work within six weeks
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 12 months working on a fixed term contract basis
  • Flexibility to work on a shift basis including weekends
  • Numerate with proven analysis skills
  • Ability to accurately assess, interpret and evaluate data quickly, to process credit applications.
  • Ability to deliver in a time pressured environment and handle multiple high priority tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and analyse financial accounts.
  • Strong telephone and written communication skills are essential.
  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent, Grade C or above.
  • A sound knowledge of the range of finance products offered by BMW Group Financial Services is highly desirable
  • Computer literate with sound knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages
