Job Overview

Integrated Systems Group (ISG) is part of the Aerospace Defense and Marine business (AD&M) within TE’s industrial business segment, supplying customers with electronic components that include ruggedized electronic interconnect solutions and harness assemblies and application equipment.

We are currently offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our dynamic team supporting our application equipment product line. The team are looking for a creative, hands-on Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to sustain and develop new products for this portfolio.

The candidate must have a knowledge and skills base covering a range of engineering and electrical disciplines, with a sound understanding of relevant technologies and current industry practices. The person must be able to demonstrate experience in developing equipment with mechanical and electrical components.

The right person will support existing application equipment product portfolio and will be responsible for new product development, qualification from customer/legislative requirements through product industrialisation and release for general sale, ensuring all compliance, safety and first article inspections are documented and completed.

Good communication and organization skills are essential for this role due to fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineering support for Installation Equipment used and sold to the Aerospace and Military markets for installing heat shrink tubing’s, solder sleeves and moulded parts onto harnesses.

• Performing design modifications of legacy equipment utilizing various CAD programs and TE connectivity internal document management systems.

• Managing Installation Equipment technical files, updating drawings and product specifications

• Writing new manuals and updating existing manuals.

• Communicating and resolving technical issues for legacy product with internal and external customers.

• Designing, prototyping, and testing concepts for new installation equipment based on new customer requirements.

• Communicating and resolving technical issues for legacy and new product introduction with internal and external manufacturing sites.

• Transferring new designs into volume production

• Ensuring the new designs meet functional and safety requirements and are compliant with industry standards (CE, UL, Low Voltage Directive, EMC and RoHS and REACH).

• Supporting the team in coordinating the mechanical /electrical aspects of other projects within the department.

• Supporting the Quality and Purchasing in supplier audits

Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge

• A degree covering key areas of both electrical and mechanical engineering

• Strong proven track record in engineering, design, and analysis skills

• Innovative approach to product design and problem solving

• Experience with electrical equipment development from concept to industrialization (VOC, DOE, FMEA)

• Able to design using CAD system with good practices with respect to modelling, assembling and creation drawings/wiring schematics

• Experience with INVENTOR/CATIA V5/SOLIDWORKS/Creo and AutoCAD or other CAD packages; Electro/Mechanical systems and Geometric dimensioning and tolerance.

• Practical/Hands on approach to mechanical/electrical engineering

• Project management skills

• Good communication and organization skills

• Highly computer literate

• Solid understanding of the development methodology and the ability to deploy NPD projects.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• High level of English language and documentation skills.
