International Operations graduate programme

Slough | £27,000 plus shift allowances, bonus and benefits

Our International Operations team connects Royal Mail Group to the rest of the world. We process over 250 million parcels and 225 million letters every year. This programme will develop your leadership skills for the future and give you the skills to make an impact right from the very start.

Programme overview

• Two-year programme with three placements

• £27,000 per year starting salary, plus location allowances: (Inner London - £4,846 / Outer London - £3,126)

• Annual performance related bonus up to 20% (depending on personal and company performance)

• Opportunities to study whilst on programme

• Management training to develop leadership skills

• Support from  buddies and mentors throughout the programme

• Minimum 2:2 in any degree although degree subjects that are numeracy or business related are preferred

About the programme

With three separate placements set over two years, you’ll gain a broad range of experience across our International Operations department. Your role will include being responsible for daily Import and Export operational activities, owning and managing a specific team and learning about the vital role Logistics plays in every business, including ours. You’ll use the right tools to evaluate performance and your analytical skills will help to solve problems and ensure you’re making the right decisions. The international nature of the programme means you’ll be working on the delivery of transnational parcels, ensuring that all mail reaches its recipient, no matter where in the world they may be.

We’ll give you hands-on responsibility from the moment you start, as well as formal leadership development. It’s all about developing your skills, raising your strategic awareness and showing you how to build the foundations for a great career. Our highly experienced managers will set you performance goals and while we expect you to use your initiative and champion your own development, you’ll also benefit from the guidance and support you’ll need from a buddy, mentor and People Partners to build a successful career at the top of our business.

Graduates are located with the team in Slough and if you need to relocate, we offer some financial support and time off to move as part of our relocation policy.

What we’re looking for

A business or numeracy based degree would be an advantage, but regardless of your degree discipline we look for graduates with the ability to communicate on numerous levels, as you’ll be building relationships both internally and externally.

The skills to thrive in a dynamic commercial environment are also essential. You need to be motivated, proactive and persuasive and have the potential to develop your negotiations skills.  These will be key when influencing your team and being a champion for continuous improvement and change. You’ll need to be IT literate with strong presentation skills

Whether you’re managing the team and day to day operations or helping to deliver our strategy – your growing confidence as a communicator and curiosity will underpin your development and learning over the course of the programme.
