Slotting is defined as the intelligent assignment of products (SKUs) to pick locations in a warehouse or distribution center for the purpose of optimizing material handling efficiency. With the strategic placement of SKUs in pick zones the following goals can be achieved:
The traditional way of assigning SKUs is based on heuristic approach, the performance of which is not high enough. The objective of this assignment to investigate whether an AI-based slotting solution can lead to better performance.
