Job Description

The Business Development Representative role is the entry-level position within our growing Social Media division, formerly known as Sysomos. It is a business-to-business sales role which involves articulating/selling the business value of the cutting-edge Meltwater Social technology to prospective clients across North America and Europe.

Our clients are typically in the Marketing, Social Media and Digital Departments, and we work directly with decision makers in a very consultative fashion. Meltwater Social solutions are used by a variety of industries, so you will get exposure to companies and organizations of all shapes and sizes, helping you expand your business acumen all the time.

You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities within our database of marketing-generated inbound leads. You will also have some exposure to cold lead generation and outreach. Using a variety of communication touchpoints including phone, email, and LinkedIn, your goal will be to convert inbound and outbound leads into meetings and demos for some of Meltwater’s most successful sales reps. Being strategic and creative in your approach to engage leads will be the key to your success.

The BDR very often has the initial (and, therefore, most important) opportunity to make an impression on a prospect, so you will be responsible for ensuring a positive experience that will set the stage for effective sales follow-up. Driving excitement, creativity, and relationship building into every prospect call is crucial. A successful candidate will have a positive phone presence and a track record of effective, credible lead follow-up and sales development at multiple levels within an organization.

Responsibilities:

• Continuous prospecting, calling, and emailing to foster both inbound and outbound opportunities and book appointments for Account Executives.

• Research accounts to understand needs, enable effective follow-up, and generate interest in Meltwater Social’s platform.

• Track and forecast all sales activities

• Meet or exceed activity metrics for outbound calls, emails, appointments set, and opportunities created.

• Proactively look for opportunities to improve and optimize end-to-end lead management, as well as other sales and marketing processes.

• Keep abreast of new product features, customer success stories, and market trends.

Skills & Requirements

At Minimum You Will Need:

  • A completed University Degree
  • 0 - 2 years of sales and/or marketing experience.
  • a desire to work in a dynamic environment with the goal of advancing their career in sales.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to lead conversations, ask open-ended questions, and identify opportunities.
  • Self-starter with a passion to learn how to solve complex problems and conduct business analyses.
  • Enthusiasm, competitiveness, and willingness to learn is a must.

You Will Get Bonus Points For:

  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience in selling social listening or analytics tools
  • Familiarity with the Marketing function inside of companies
  • Ambitious internships or relevant professional experience
  • International experience (academic, personal or professional)
