Primary Objectives

  • Assist all levels of the business to implement and comply with the requirement of the Health and Safety at Work Act and all relevant safety legislation.
  • Make recommendations and interpret policy decisions to ensure legislative compliance.
  • To ensure that all Crown Worldwide UK & I operations are compliant with Health, Safety & ensuring compliance to ISO 45001.
  • Effective use of management systems within Crown Worldwide UK & I ensuring the sharing and transfer of best working practices occurs with the areas of safety and health.
  • To work within defined annual budgets. Monitor and track expenditure, reporting return on investment where necessary or possible.
  • To report, on a timely basis, to company management and appropriate authorities on any breaches of legislation that may bring the company into disrepute.
  • Maintenance of our existing accreditations in H&S, Environmental, Quality, Data Protection and Anti-Bribery & Corruption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure UK & I follow and make full use of all group level company policy, process, and procedure as found in the Health and Safety pages of SharePoint. in conjunction with respective management teams, create and manage health and safety objectives.
  • Develop and deliver training course within the areas of safety and health. This to include but not limited to areas of: manual handling training, tool box talks, risk assessment, method statements and fire risk awareness.
  • “Up Skill” Site Managers, Supervisors & Team Leaders to understand their roles and responsibilities under H&S Law.
  • To maintain detailed training records of all employees, ensuring these are updated and additional training is carried out on a regular basis in conjunction with respective management teams, advise on all safety and health matters.
  • To recommend amendments, as necessary, to the safety and health management systems and ensuring SharePoint is kept up to date with current and relevant documentation, data, and detail.
  • To produce quarterly accident statistics from the Events Register and publish to the senior management team, providing detailed breakdown of accident types for analysis. Recommend and implement changes to reduce risk.
  • To personally carry out site audits as appropriate either at Crown or Client premises.
  • To assist in the creation of complex risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work where required for specialist activities are engaged.
  • To facilitate external audits and accompany the external auditor where appropriate.
  • Make use of Crown’s IOF system as a non-conformance system, ensuring all H&S deviations from conformance are reviewed with local management and closed out.
  • To assist Bid Proposal specialists in completing customer ‘Invitations to Tender’ and supply chain assessments where required.
  • To record, analyse and maintain statistics of all reported accidents. To carry out full accident investigations as necessary, make RIDDOR reports or any other legal notification of accident.
  • Attend regular management review meetings and report on the status of subjects within remit and any other issues as required by the management team that are associated.
  • To advise on appropriate H&S training recommendations to HR to be implemented.
  • To assist Bid Proposal Specialist to produce and submit applications for appropriate RoSPA awards as required by senior management or any other award entry.
  • Analyse on an annual basis claims performance of employers liability, and driving claims
  • Act as a “whistle blower” for any breaches of safety & health.
  • Carry out H&S induction presentations in conjunction with HR for all new employees.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by line manager.

Aptitude, Experience and Qualification

  • Hold relevant professional qualifications in Health and Safety Management (NEBOSH)
  • Hold a relevant qualification to deliver Health and Safety Training (e.g. BTEC / IOSH)
  • The role requires extensive travel within the UK & I with significant periods away from home.
  • Be prepared on occasions to work outside normal working hours as the business need dictates.
  • To improve one’s own knowledge by undertaking additional courses.
