Overall Job Summary

An account management position where strong previous experience of own label packaging development is key. Based onsite at the client office, the successful candidate will be part of our packaging team within the M&S trading category.

This full time and demanding role requires an individual with a high level of proven presentation and communication skills, who can illustrate their experience in cradle to grave project management in the FMCG sector. Preferably you are already from either the retail / FMCG markets or print / packaging industry.

Job Responsibilities

Relationship Management

  • Build and sustain a strong relationship with the key stakeholders within the category you are responsible for. Work as a liaison between the Design team, Commercial categories, Suppliers, Printers ensuring M&S packaging requirements are met in line with agreed critical path and launch dates.
  • Act as the Account Manager contact for the Schawk team on site. Manage the day to day running of the account within your category ensuring that client needs are met.
  • Being proactive in your approach work closely with your client and give required support as necessary. Ensure that relationships are maintained with all other members of the client team and that any issues are resolved immediately.
  • Hold weekly update meetings with the client to discuss project status across the business. Discuss any concerns with regards to volumes, category issues and delays with projects.
  • Responsible for the delivery of artwork in your category it is imperative a proactive problem-solving approach is required to meet the demands of M&S.
  • Build relationships with the Design team
  • Build key relationships with Ashbury to ensure the receipt of Packaging Specifications are timely and accurate. To have a full understanding of the Specification process, including when PLuM goes live.
  • Keep abreast of trends in the retail market and how they may affect the client. Be commercially aware and responsive to client needs.
  • Maintain close relationships with Schawk studios and develop close relationship with Account Executive team. Ensure management of ranges is clear from briefing on Encore through to up to date information with on-line trackers, Design & Technical requirements.
  • Hold regular meetings with your Account Exec teams to ensure seamless delivery of artwork and flow information from client to studio. Queries and versions of artworks will be a key performance indicator.
  • To drive best practice and smarter ways of working to contribute to right first-time expectations.

Process

  • Oversee high profile projects and corporate redesigns.
  • Address critical path deadline delays with commercial categories when necessary. Manage all aspects of category expectations.
  • Work with Design studio to ensure artwork is created from Design Cascade received. To attend the Design Presentation meeting to take the brief and fully understand the Design aspiration for the range.

Range Management

  • Own and be responsible for ensuring that all artwork projects are managed in a professional manner.
  • Be able to run high profile projects and brand redesigns.
  • Create and manage critical paths according to client launch schedule and knowledge of print lead times.
  • Manage the approval of pack copies via the client system, including Legal.
  • Manage the approval of design, photography, artwork and repro to ensure the design seal date is met.
  • Ensure all ranges are travel tested and comply to protocol.
  • Arrange and attend Design Presentation and Pre-production meetings
  • Manage the handover of approved Cascade document from the Design studio ensuring correct cutters are supplied at the beginning of projects.
  • Brief artwork using the Schawk MIS. Ensure that briefs are accurate and communicated clearly. Target a <10% query rate and no more then 2 versions of artwork
  • Work with the Creative Artwork Team, Studio Brand guardian and Studio manager to ensure that range reviews are carried out on all ranges.
  • Work with pre-production department with regards to press passing requirements.
  • Work with suppliers & printers to ensure printed samples are submitted after press runs for approval.
  • Provide PIR information as requested for completed ranges.

Commercials

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of latest packaging developments and communicate findings with category personnel.

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Provide a weekly volume forecast to the studio for all work in progress.

  • Knowledge of design, retail, brand and packaging.
