We currently have the opportunity to recruit a qualified Electrician with experience of working in a heavy industry, into the role of Senior Electrical Technician at our Building Systems operation in Shotton.

The Role

As the Senior Electrical Technician, you will be required to support the operations team by performing necessary repairs; undertaking preventative maintenance activities and facilitating the promotion of engineering solutions for process improvement to ensure process availability, quality and productivity are optimised.

Providing specialist technical activities associated with the electrical/electronic/ computer/instrumentation equipment, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • To maintain and repair processing machinery and ancillary equipment in a safe and productive manner in order to maximise availability at optimum cost; to good standards of workmanship and in conformance with all Company standards and procedures.
  • To contribute to the determination and co-ordination of preventative maintenance programmes to ensure that unplanned downtime is avoided.
  • To assist in the procurement and management of contract resource to ensure prompt and cost effective recovery from breakdown
  • To deliver training to operators in order that they are able to understand and implement basic maintenance activities that facilitate optimum productivity.
  • To understand, deploy and seek to recommend improvements to production control procedures to support team performance objectives.
  • To ensure that team operations, including those undertaken on the Company's behalf by third party service providers, are conducted in manner that fully complies with Panels and Profiles health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
  • To handle engineering spares and inventory including checking stock records, labelling and storing according to commercial requirements and Panels and Profiles policy.
  • To be actively involved in own personal development plans to maximise performance in the role and the contribution to succession requirements of the business.
  • Where circumstances require, operate processing machinery and material handling equipment in a safe and productive manner and to good standards of workmanship.

The Candidate

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally be degree qualified, or time served, and qualified to HNC level as a minimum, in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline.

Coupled with your qualification, you will need to demonstrate previous industrial experience and a wide experience of works processes and control systems. You should also have experience of planning engineering activities and directing personnel.

A basic knowledge of PLC’s is essential. Siemens preferred, though training will be provided.

In addition to this, you must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • qualities of flexibility, initiative, drive and commitment.
  • The ability to work safely under pressure and to tight timescales. Good all round education with strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills.
  • a proactive approach to safety.

You will also require competency in the operation of computer systems and have proven experience of engineering systems and techniques.
