The Customer Connections Team are responsible for developing high quality, buildable solutions to enable National Grid to outperform, giving you the opportunity to work on some exciting, high profile projects. You’ll be managing a Front End Engineering Design contract that will provide the design support you need to professionally scope out your projects, meaning you will need to fully understand the scope, cost, programme, and risk of construction projects, in order to obtain financial sanction and establish a delivery contract.

What you'll do

You will:

  • Be responsible, with structured support, for the development of a portfolio of projects across a broad range of engineering disciplines and project types, including: overhead lines; cables; substations; security infrastructure; and flood defences.
  • Supported by some of the most experienced engineers in the industry, develop your technical understanding of National Grid’s assets.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to support Development Consent Orders for major infrastructure developments, such as the construction of new overhead lines.
  • Visita variety of National Grid sites to understand how construction projects are carried out, and to evaluate potential hazards and risks which the Delivery Team may encounter during construction.

What's in it for you

In Electricity Transmission, we are committed to the personal development of our employees.

Joining us, you’ll be supported as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills through structured training and on the job experience.

You’ll work closely with your line manager to establish and navigate through a Personal Development Plan that is tailored to your needs.

This role also provides an excellent opportunity to gain the necessary experience and skills to obtain accreditation with professional engineering bodies such as the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), and The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

What you'll get

Youwill receive a starting salary of £28,105 (or £29,127 if you hold a Masters) and a £2000 joining bonus. You will also have access to a number of additional benefits such as 25 days’ holiday, a generous completion payment, an accommodation allowance as you move around the business, a competitive pension scheme and a number of flexible benefits to name just a few.
