About the job

The Finance Operations team manages Google's cash transactions on a global basis and ensures that Google's incoming and outgoing cash processes are controlled, effective and efficient. As a member of this team, you'll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. You thrive on making processes more efficient and scalable, you work to ensure the highest level of quality of our operations and you proactively minimize operational risk. Externally, you collaborate with our outsourcing partners and internally, you collaborate across the five areas of the Financial Operations team: Global Revenue Operations, Procure to Pay, Electronic Payment Services, Business Process Outsourcing, and Payroll.

As a Data Security, GDPR and Privacy Manager, you will help ensure that Payroll is keeping all sensitive data for our employees secure. You will lead a multi-year program to evaluate and remediate our data security practices across a myriad of systems, processes and vendor relationships, in order to achieve and maintain compliance with Google’s Finance Data Security Policy and other regulations.

This role will require partnership with global payroll leaders, as well as with Corporate Engineering, Legal, Compliance, HR and other Finance teams around the world. You will be exposed to many different cultures, processes and regulations while operating with an exceptional sense of teamwork, cross-functional collaboration and focus on internal and external customers.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Payroll's Finance Data Policy compliance program and track progress of each Payroll system and process against milestones.
  • Engage and collaborate with wider Finance teams to establish and share best practices for data security.
  • Centralize and automate access approval, removal and validation processes.
  • Launch new Finance Academy Payroll Data Security trainings.
  • Define and influence access configuration approach for any new Payroll system transformation projects.

Though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, we still maintain a small company feel. At lunchtime, almost everyone eats in the office café, sitting at whatever table has an opening and enjoying conversations with Googlers from different teams. Our commitment to innovation depends on everyone being comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Every employee is a hands-on contributor, and everyone wears several hats. Because we believe that each Googler is an equally important part of our success, no one hesitates to pose questions directly to anyone, at any level, in the company.
