About the job

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. As a member of this team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and you'll review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports -- and all this sounds like fun to you. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team get better at what we do, in the most efficient way possible. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and roll up your sleeves to pitch in when it's all hands on deck. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support Google's business objectives.

In Finance, we strive to build the appropriate infrastructure, financial controls, and risk management well ahead of time. As a Senior Entity Controller, you will play a vital role in supporting and delivering these objectives. You will be responsible for the financial reporting for a portfolio of entities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Israel. You'll have the opportunity to lead and manage impactful global and cross-functional projects. As a well-rounded financial advisor, you will guide the business to mitigate risk, optimize resource allocation, and help build the financial infrastructure to scale the business.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for overseeing the annual statutory financial statements process, including management of the external audit and tax compliance for a portfolio of entities across EMEA and Israel.
  • Perform regular in-depth analysis on financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records.
  • Manage the delivery of accounting processes performed by external vendors ensuring that all service levels are met, the internal control environment is robust, and a quality service is provided.
  • Represent Accounting and Finance with our business partners through effective communication with in-country business teams.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of tools and applications in support of the accounting function and highlight opportunities for improvement, managing projects that will yield efficiency through automation, optimization, and outsourcing.

Though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, we still maintain a small company feel. At lunchtime, almost everyone eats in the office café, sitting at whatever table has an opening and enjoying conversations with Googlers from different teams. Our commitment to innovation depends on everyone being comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Every employee is a hands-on contributor, and everyone wears several hats. Because we believe that each Googler is an equally important part of our success, no one hesitates to pose questions directly to anyone, at any level, in the company.
