Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Structural Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical project management experience working in an IT engineering or computing deployments related field.
  • Experience in data center IT equipment room layout (MDF, IDF, server hall, etc.), connectivity and pathway, electrical and cooling systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD in data center construction or deployment projects.
  • Experience in total cost of ownership evaluation for new technology deployment feasibility, usability and production cut-in/change management.
  • Experience with a geographically diverse team with the ability to lead and interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of data center environments: IT/telecom, architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural and civil.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise manner through all digital mediums (design drawings, presentations, video conference) both internally and with clients.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

The Design team oversees design and construction of critical data center infrastructure around the world. Our mission is to efficiently design deployable, operable and maintainable data centers globally. You plan requirements with internal customers and support projects through the entire lifecycle. This includes creating and/or following standards, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of large, complex projects, managing to data center constraints (power, space, cooling, operations and network) in data center deployments.
  • Create and manage physical layouts and standards.
  • Manage and define tools for infrastructure planning and delivery.
  • Develop and nurture relationships between cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and execute on business process improvements. Drive process improvements, in particular with respect to coordination with and delivery from external engineering resources.
