Job purpose

Provide communication and engagement support for the Agile Centre for Excellence and the Making M&S Technology a ‘Great Place to Work’ themes

As part of the continual improvement of Agile and Scaled Agile adoption in Technology, the Agile Centre for Excellence (C4E) is being created to support the Technology team and our business colleagues in becoming excellent in these behaviours and ways of working. Assisting all roles within the C4E and those that support this function (i.e. Agile coaches), this role is central to the smooth running of a newly established team. You will have accountability for establishing and maintaining the relevant tools to ensure people know about the C4E and how to find relevant materials. You will also provide support to the roles within the C4E as appropriate, manage communications and messaging, create Centre for Excellence events and create feedback mechanisms to continually improve the Centre for Excellence.

In addition, you will also support the newly created ‘Making M&S Technology a Great Place to Work’ initiatives which will define and deliver changes to make M&S Technology more effective and a Great Place to Work. These initiatives include providing clarity on the future Technology function Vision and current Roles and Responsibilities, as well as reviewing and refining ways of working of core processes and the culture within Technology. You will be responsible for defining the communications and engagement strategy and approach (in conjunction with that planned for the C4E) and then deliver the communications and messaging as required.

You should be someone that is a key team player, supporter, keen to learn new things and have some exposure to Agile ways of working and continuous improvement processes. A strong storytelling ability, good writing skills and creative flair are also essential.

Key accountabilities and measures

• Create and manage the C4E SharePoint site, where all content related to the M&S Agile ways of working will be hosted. This is a new site that will need to be established and maintained going forward, constantly evolving to ensure it is a place where people can easily get too and navigate to self-learn.

o Support the production of content for playbooks. Working with the Agile coaches and Communities of Practice to ensure that the relevant playbooks are constantly up to date and relevant.

o Support the production of content on the M&S Agile ways of working. Help to create content through relevant communication tools that will easily explain how Agile works within Marks and Spencer and what some of the key elements are

o Identify success stories and publish. Work with the Agile coaches to identify success stories, gather information on the stories and publish on the C4E SharePoint site or work with technology communications to share with the wider Technology group.

• You should work as an Agile evangelist across Technology; driving engagement and inspiring teams to share their stories

• Responsible for unearthing and authoring creative content related to Technology’s transformation aligned with the M&S Technology communications strategy. This includes writing articles for Technology Hub, preparing presentations for the weekly Huddle, drafting updates for the Town Hall and producing videos for Technology Hub.

• Develop and manage the communication and engagement approach, plan and content for the ‘Making M&S Technology a Great Place to Work’ initiatives ensuring updates are communicated in the most effective and engaging way and support the overall Change Management plan

• Support L&D specialist with creation of learning content, where appropriate.

• Support L&D specialist and coaches with the organisation and setup of learning sessions.

• Support Agile coaches with the creation of content for Agile Centre for Excellence, where appropriate.

• Input into the continuous improvement of the Agile Centre for Excellence and ‘Great Place to Work’ workstreams and where appropriate owning initiatives.

• Organise, set up and co-ordination of events promoting the Agile Centre for Excellence, Agile ways of working with the onshore and offshore Agile coaches and Great Place to Work initiatives

• Organise, set up and co-ordinate talks from internal and external people to promote Agile and Great Place to Work initiatives

• Keep abreast with the industry to understand latest trends within Agile and Scaled Agile practices and ways of working that can be used within Marks &Spencer.
