  • The global Programs & Commodity Management (PCM) Team is a commercial & sourcing expert team who is accountable to commercially manage our Indirect Materials and Services spend within Alcoa. The team leverages People & Talent, Knowledge, Governance and Processes to deliver commercial value by leading the development of commercial programs, commodity & category strategies, identifying global and regional synergies, optimizing our purchasing leverage, managing supplier relationships and appropriately communicating these commercial conditions to support our collective goal of delivering value and strategic advantage for Alcoa at the Indirect materials and services environment to Aluminum, Alumina & Bauxite BUs, through a team spread across the countries we operate.

  • The Procurement Category Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing & executing some of the assigned Category Strategies for the short & long term with the aim of creating a solid position for Alcoa to face the future and bring in cost savings, higher productivity, total cost of ownership reductions & general (optimization) improvements by applying technology, purchasing strategies and exploring the extended market. Although this specific role will be mainly focused on Refractories, understanding other Indirect market dynamics, applying market intelligence info, either from desktop sources and through supplier / market discussions to enable proactive and smart sourcing decisions on short, mid and long term is essential.

  • Role & Main activities:

  • Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Develop meaningful short- and long-term global Commodity & Category strategies to effectively address Alcoa Indirect spend, partnering with key internal stakeholders inside and outside Procurement, tapping on key suppliers and technologies to reduce cost, increase productivity & serve the BUs.
  • Be the Procurement face to the supplier market, connecting with outside trends, technologies to bring cost savings and other ‘’value add’’ to Alcoa.
  • Be the owner of the commercial savings indirect materials and services plan & initiatives across Alcoa, identifying, negotiating, implementing regional and global cost savings initiatives partnering with other Procurement teams, centers of excellence, operational & maintenance teams at the business units.
  • Drive productivity programs to deliver value to Alcoa, increasing automation, reducing working capital, sharing practices across regions and driving more returns such as procurement malls, payment terms negotiations, best practice sharing projects & high yield negotiations tools.
  • Develop alternative supply sources across the globe to reduce cost, bring innovation and drive productivity, taking in consideration the Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of supply management, engineering, business
  • MBA or Master's Degree from an accredited institution is a plus, as well as certification in Purchasing
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a category/program management/supply chain role
  • Demonstrated Category/Commodity Management / Program Management experience
  • Advanced (multi) project management – execution & delivering results through teams
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Proactivity, self-learning skills to use and apply new technologies & processes.
  • Ability to work virtually in different time zones with a diverse and global team.
  • Ability to work on different projects at the same time in multiple categories according to the team’s priorities.
  • Influencing and networking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills (in English). Spanish/Norwegian/Icelandic is a plus.
