Infrastructure Engineer (Entry to Mid-Level)

We are looking for a dedicated Core Infrastructure Engineer, who will assist the delivery of ASOS’ services in the cloud and on-premise. This is a great opportunity to join a team who believe in the use of technology to drive the business forward. The right person will be joining a highly skilled, motivated group of talented individuals, who are all happy to both share knowledge and learn from others.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Work with other Infrastructure Engineers to support of systems on-premise and in Azure.
  • Getting involved in configuring virtual machines, physical machines, storage accounts and resource groups in Azure, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Windows and Linux environments across ASOS.
  • Help oversee a 24/7 operation of cloud and on-premise Infrastructure
  • Work with 3rd party support services as required.
  • Adhere to defined operational standards, maintain service level agreements, ensuring that they provide metrics for KPIs.
  • Manage and support the systems and infrastructure including installation configuration and maintenance of Windows and Linux Environments
  • Maintain and improve operational standards such as daily checks, operational schedules, housekeeping, monitoring, log/error management and diagnostic capture.
  • Assist and provide root cause analysis for service interruption recovery, create preventative measures and provide reports to management.
  • Carry out performance and capacity planning for the Core Infrastructure.
  • Develop documentation for best practices for server infrastructure, on-premise virtualisation and Azure computing.
  • Keeping users up to date on the progress of their issues.
  • Taking escalation from other junior members\teams and following these through to resolution.
  • Ensures all server security baselines are met and security improvements are implemented across the server environments.
  • Willing to work out-of-hours and be part of a 24x7 call-out rota.

Who’d we like.

You’re a motivated Core Infrastructure Engineer, who is passionate about providing the highest quality of infrastructure. You are now ready to jump into a high visibility role and be part of a successful and team.

  • Familiar with the demands of Infrastructure for multiple teams and platforms.
  • You have excellent understanding of the commercial and business impact of tech outages with the business.
  • Have a clear understanding of the way a tech support team works, with extensive experience of installing and supporting a multi-architectural infrastructure evidenced by being able to describe how the support model should work.
  • You may have experience of overseeing e-commerce platforms, or at least willing to learn more about them.
  • You will have previously implemented projects and services, with major stakeholder engagement and planning, with the highest uptime statistics.
  • You will have experience of working in an ITIL disciplined environment.

The essentials.

  • Demonstrable experience across multiple Microsoft platforms such as Windows Server 2008(R2), 2012(R2), 2016.
  • Good knowledge of foundation network technologies such as DNS, DHCP and protocols around TCP/IP such as FTP and SMTP.
  • Exposure of cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS.
  • Desire to provide third line support across the extensive Microsoft stack and related infrastructure services, such as Active Directory, Clustering, Identity and Access Management, Monitoring.
  • Exposure in virtualisation technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of scripting PowerShell (Azure ARM, JSON).
  • Strong written ability and communication skills.
