Overview

We’re looking for an intern with who will bring energy, creativity, a can-do attitude and above all a keen desire to learn new things. This is an opportunity to apply your brilliant coding skills to real engineering problems, work with complex signal processing algorithms to do super cool things and immerse yourself in a rich world of technology. You’ll be working as part of a world leading research and development team in a supportive environment that encourages continual learning.

This position for a 10 - 12 month period during your placement year at university.

Role Description

The group gets involved in a diverse range of technology and applications including audio devices, machine learning, radio tracking and broadband communications. We design and build products for our clients that other companies don’t think are possible.

All successful applicants will:

  • Be challenged to explore outside their comfort zone
  • Experience what real engineering means
  • Undertake responsibility from early on
  • Get their fingers dirty on a mind blowing array of the latest tech

Specific Responsibilities

On a daily basis you will be:

  • Working on a team project for a client
  • Immersed in high performance computer hardware
  • Applying signal processing techniques to design solutions for a variety of problems
  • Implementing complex algorithms and infrastructure in software
  • Encouraged to open your mind and propose new ideas!

Requirements

To meet the requirements of this role you will be on track for a good degree (2:1 or 1st class) in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Maths. You will also have:

  • Excellent A-Level results
  • An imaginative and inquisitive mind and eagerness to learn new skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good programming and software engineering skills
  • A keen interest in low level or embedded programming
  • Familiarity with a scripting language (Python, Bash etc.)
  • Clear understanding of fundamental signal processing techniques and transforms
