About Us

At DeepMind we've built a unique culture and work environment where long-term ambitious research can flourish. Our special interdisciplinary team combines the best techniques from deep learning, reinforcement learning and systems neuroscience to build general-purpose learning algorithms. We have already made a number of high profile breakthroughs towards building artificial general intelligence and we have all the ingredients in place to make further significant progress over the coming years.

Snapshot

As a Research Engineering intern at DeepMind, you will use your software engineering and research skills to advance our groundbreaking AI research programme in collaboration with other members of the research team.

The Role

Research Engineering intern projects involve working on a single research project as part of a research team, with the support of a host RE. Whatever project you work on, you will be part of a diverse, interdisciplinary, collaborative team of highly talented people.

Our research programme presents a wide range of interesting and unique challenges:

  • Innovating in large-scale distributed machine learning systems.
  • Taking research advances in optimisation or learning algorithms and applying them to new challenges.
  • Implementing creative reinforcement learning agent architectures and learning algorithms.
  • Measuring agent performance and analysing agent behaviour on a variety of tasks, and using the results to guide research directions.

About You

We welcome applications from current students at any level (Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate) who have completed at least two years of university-level study in a technical subject (computer science, engineering, maths, physics, etc.).

We expect you to have some computer programming experience together with an interest in AI or machine learning. No prior formal study of these topics is required.

DeepMind welcomes applications from all sections of society. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis as protected by applicable law. If you have a disability or additional need that requires accommodation, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Artificial intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. DeepMind aims to build advanced AI to expand our knowledge and find new answers. By solving this one thing, we believe we could help people solve thousands of problems.
