Summary

Are you looking for an exciting IT internship opportunity in an international organisation? Do you want to join one of the largest IT teams in the world? An Assessed Internship is an excellent way to get to know Shell from the inside and get to know the energy industry. It can also help you decide what career is right for you. You’ll have full day-to-day involvement in actual projects, selected to match your IT interests and abilities.

The placement

You will work as a Production Optimizer in the NAM Schoonebeek operations. The NAM Schoonebeek operation produces oil from about 40+ wells, and all of them have a different set of production parameters (maximum production, sulphur content, water content, etc). In addition to limitation in terms of water injection, scavenger injection, sulphur production, breaks in the production line and production water disposal. The Schoonebeek production team has daily calls to optimize the production of all these wells, and you will be part of this team!

You will find yourself working in a small team of business and IT folks using Design Thinking and Agile methodology. Expect lots of support and encouragement while you're here. We value career growth, therefore, we can provide you internal trainings where needed.

As a Production Optimizer intern, we will be looking to you to:

·      Optimize production with non-linear constraints for Schoonebeek oil field.

·      Use big data from production and discrete data to create models that predict (H2S, Water, etc).

·      Reduce meeting time to half using advanced knowledge technologies.

Furthermore, in this project, you will contribute towards a cleaner energy solution. The optimization production of Schoonebeek’s oil wells will reduce waste and environmental impact of the operation. The knowledge obtained can be used by other Shell operations to further optimize their production patterns.

  • You are available for at least 4 days a week
  • Knowledge of either non-linear optimization, artificial intelligence, knowledge management, data engineering, data science or text analysis can be helpful (one of the above!)

What we offer you
