Join Shell as a Geophysicist and you’ll become part of a vibrant global community of more than 500 staff from a broad range of strongly technical backgrounds. Through the acquisition, processing, integration and interpretation of different types of high-quality geophysical data you will impact major project decisions, either in a research role or as part of an operational team. Whether working at global, regional, basin or field scale, you will use, and help to further develop, the latest technologies in integrated teams with colleagues from the other Geoscience disciplines (Exploration Geoscience, Production Geoscience and Specialist Geoscience), Well Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. For example, we encourage young staff to explore, in parallel with developments in many other sciences, how to best use the capabilities of AI and digitalization to improve imaging, better design seismic surveys and optimize understanding of the subsurface .
The Shell Graduate Programme: a world of opportunities!
The Shell Graduate Programme for Geosciences is a technical, three-year blended learning programme. It is a combination of on-the-job development, structured training and fieldwork. During this period, you’ll be able to apply and develop your skills and be assigned to work as part of a team on a current technical project.
The programme is designed to introduce you to the full scope of Shell’s operations, build your network and give you a broad foundation for your future career. During the Shell Graduate Programme, you will have the chance to rotate between roles, all the while working closely with senior technical experts.
At Shell, we promote teamwork and a culture of continuous development. You can expect formal training, on-the-job training, mentoring and regular progress checks. During the Shell Graduate Programme, you will have opportunities to mix and share knowledge with fellow graduates of different disciplines. On successful completion of the Shell Graduate Programme, you will have developed a detailed understanding of Exploration Geoscience, Geophysics, Production Geoscience, Specialist Geoscience, and how these disciplines are used to support the overall Shell business.
This graduate program is just the starting point. It will equip you to either follow a technical specialist career with Shell or move towards leadership positions inside or outside the Netherlands.
Who are we looking for?
You hold a Master or PhD degree in Geophysics/Physics/Mathematics/Electronics/Geology or a closely related field. You are either a recent graduate or already have some initial experience on your CV. You have strong analytical capabilities. You are a self-starter who enjoys tackling non-routine issues. You are a good communicator with the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
