The Role

  • Engage with business functions to understand their strategy and business plans to formulate product roadmaps.
  • Develop the requirement for each project, initially at a high level, then drilling down to detailed requirements to enable the project team and suppliers to develop solutions.
  • Responsible for investigating business situations, identifying and evaluating options for improving business systems, defining requirements and ensuring the effective use of information systems.
  • Understanding as-is and devising the to-be processes and carrying out gap analysis.
  • Act as an agent of change, who uses different analysis techniques to support business change activities.
  • Plan the business analysis work for projects providing timescales, landmarks and dependencies for the work to proceed in an Agile or Waterfall manner as appropriate.
  • Work closely with business and IT partners to define and capture the backlog of requirements/epics, including functional, non-functional and IT operational requirements for the project.
  • Elicit requirements from project stakeholders using different techniques, as suitable, to validate and bring together the detail in the form of user stories.
  • Review prototypes and participate in show and tells of the developed user stories to confirm fit with requirements at an early stage. Involve relevant subject matter experts and sponsors as required.
  • Support testing and project managers with the evaluation of defects and prioritisation of these defects.
  • Represent the business and their requirements through the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with other teams in IT and across the business.
  • Build positive relationships with and gain the trust of all stakeholders, understanding priorities and business benefits.
  • Identify and evaluate work that requires IT intervention and ensure that it aligns with budget and IT and business strategy.

Key skills required

  • Solid grounding in Business Analysis principles and best practice.
  • Knowledge/experience of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with requirements cataloguing, epics, user stories and working with team members for backlog refinement.

  • You will need to respond quickly and accurately to change to really drive business objectives and benefits.
  • You will be working on a variety of business critical projects, so that ability to adapt will be a huge advantage.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to work largely on their own initiative or as part of a team. The size, complexity and/or number of projects being worked on and seniority of stakeholders may vary depending on experience, knowledge and skill.
  • The role may lead and/or mentor other business analysts depending on experience and size/complexity of the projects) the role is working on in any one period of time.
  • You will have an outgoing nature with a creative and new way to problem solving.

  • You’ll need to have demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst, having the confidence and passion to take personal accountability for projects of varying scale and inspiring the implementation of outstanding solutions.
  • You’ll have a real passion for finding and delivering high quality solutions to solve business problems.
  • Someone with the understanding of Digital, EPoS and Inventory Management.
  • Experience with D365 Business Central or Dynamics NAV would be advantageous.
  • Ideally you will have experience working in an Agile environment.
