You have flown with us, but what do you know about the operations behind every flight? In 2017, KLM carried a record 32.7 million passengers, offering its passengers direct flights to 165 destinations with a modern fleet of more than 160 aircraft. The airline employs a workforce of more 32,000 people worldwide. A wide field to apply your skills, learn and develop as a person. KLM recently announced that it has partnered with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to offer AI-driven tools that enable our Operations to be much more robust when facing unexpected disruptions. Together we develop a set of tools using advanced optimizations, simulation models and machine learning that resolve issues concerning fleet, crew, ground services and network based on real-time data and insights. At KLM, you will work shoulder to shoulder with operations research consultants, data scientists, operations experts, frontline staff and BCG colleagues to shape the future of KLM and the aviation industry. We are setting the example for the airline industry of how to leverage the value of data to drive business change and we need you to strengthen our team!

Wat ga je doen?

As a company we want an ever growing group of loyal frequent travellers that feel recognized and touched to travel to an ever growing number of unique origins and destinations whilst moving towards efficient utilisation of infrastructure and resources. We need superior (planning) decisions. Implemented better. And faster. As a Product Adoption Specialist, you will work together with the Product Owner and the development team to make sure that the tools we are building solve the biggest challenges that our users are facing. You understand the world of our Operations Control Center as no one else and are able to translate their needs into features that the development team should develop next.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Co-create with operations experts and other stakeholders to develop state-of-the-art decision support tools that help our customers face complex operational challenges
  • Work closely with management, contribute with your ideas and creativity and work in a fast-paced environment with a push to action
  • Directly drive impact and adoption of our tools by providing training and support to the end users
  • Assess and report current impact being made by the tools, identify roadblocks and define opportunities to drive greater impact and adoption
  • Perform analysis on the quality of the solutions given by our tools and use that as input to propose how our models should be improved to boost implementation and impact
  • Be the link between users and the development team, capturing needs, requirements and improvements in future features and user stories that define the team’s backlog
  • Help design how the tools should be part of the existing workflow of the users or how the workflow should be redesigned to leverage the new range of possibilities open by the tools
