Team Profile

The Technology team support and enhance Business Insight’s suite of software applications and web sites whilst also supporting the infrastructure required to maintain and grow the business.

Role Purpose 

The Analyst Programmer will analyse business processing requirements and develop software or implement packaged software to meet these requirements. Developing, implementing and maintaining computer systems in accordance with business strategy and with due regard to the current standards for the development of computer systems is a key part of this role. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Determining the requirements of computer systems by conducting feasibility studies, examining existing procedures and interviewing users in accordance with Business Insight standards.
  • Preparing system specifications in line with current standards for systems development.
  • Specifying project scoping and planning for implementation of systems.
  • Preparing program specifications, form designs, screen formats, report formats and operating procedures for data input, transfer/migration to new systems, database designs, system testing procedures and user acceptance procedures as required by any given project.
  • Writing and testing computer systems and databases, using development aids where identified as appropriate, and implementing these following agreed guidelines and standards.
  • Successfully implementing any packaged software requirements for users.
  • Preparing system user guidelines and documents on all aspects of systems as required by clients or by Business Insight
  • Assisting in operations and supporting staff with operational problems.
  • Revising and amending systems and programs where corrections, system changes, or database administration are required.
  • Providing training of systems for users.
  • Keeping up to date with development techniques by attending lectures, seminars, training courses and reading technical material.
  • Providing input into the future strategic development and business plans of Business Insight.
  • Presenting a positive, professional image of the company at all times.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an analytical mind with a good grasp of software development techniques. A degree in a computing related subject or equivalent experience is also essential.
