Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job

Manufacture of products using all Production equipment, in compliance with defined standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures.

Responsibilities:

Actively support Shift Supervisor, Control Room Operators and team to deliver production performance targets through efficient operation of the resin plant’s production equipment, meeting production schedules, maintaining high operating equipment efficiency levels, operational flexibility & reliability and ensuring that HSE&S practices and procedures are understood and practiced by all employees.

Support site effort to create a culture of functional & operational excellence, continuous improvement, accountability, professionalism and commitment to company values and behaviours.

Tasks will mainly include:

  • Operating process vessels, pumps and other process plant equipment.
  • Drive forklift trucks.
  • Following batch sheets and other company procedures.
  • Identifying correct raw materials and batch numbers for batch mixing.
  • Ensuring batch sheets are completed accurately.
  • Weighing and measuring out raw materials required.
  • Operating manufacturing equipment to ensure production of batches is carried out on time and in a safe manner.
  • Packaging of hazardous finished product in accordance with packing instructions.
  • Undertaking all work activity with due care and attention to Health & safety and company safety procedures.
  • Ensuring that at all times both your own work and that of colleagues is carried out in a safe, controlled and efficient manner.
  • Following plant housekeeping procedures.
  • Fully support all processes and procedures required to maintain the safe operation of a COMAH IPPC resin production facility.
  • Actively participate in the company’s relentless pursuit for HSE&S excellence on a designated high hazard site; including AN BBS & PSM, utilizing various tools including prevention, communication, recognition and investigation.
  • Anticipate and respond effectively & promptly to hazards in safety, health, security & environment taking account of people, plant and procedures.
  • ERT member. Physically capable of using BA equipment in emergency situations.
  • Support Shift Supervisor to create a positive, high performance, customer focused work culture based on open dialog, constructive feedback, with commitment to people development.
  • Active member of shift team which collectively is capable of and fully involved in understanding & achieving the production objectives & targets. Work to agreed personal performance levels within Production.
  • Relentless discipline in following company and site safety, quality and operational procedures. Perform team standard work and outstanding tasks as requested by Shift Supervisor or control Room Operators.
  • Drive customer focus, performance & quality standards for production and actively participate in continuous improvement for shift. Continually monitor and highlight improvement opportunities.
  • Expedite the ISC team vision to implement ALPS, our company wide manufacturing mgmt. system, and standard processes for shift consistent with the ISC functional excellence agenda.
  • Drive adherence to schedule for daily/weekly production to ensure optimum operational efficiency of equipment, services & manpower resource following internal processes and procedures.
  • Ensure all SAP transactions are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Accurate stock control within production areas.
  • Capture accurate data for KPI reporting for both internal & external requirements.
  • Participate in effective shift handover with peers ensuring all aspects of production, performance & HSE are effectively communicated.
  • Actively participate in 5S improvement processes, ensuring high standards & co-operation between shifts.
  • Timely and effectively escalate issues to Control Room Operator and/or Shift Supervisor.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Job Requirements:

  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy GCSE level educational qualifications or equivalent (minimum of 5 grades A-C).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing role in a COMAH IPPC chemical facility regulated by both the HSE & EA preferred but not essential.
  • Team work awareness, should be able to demonstrate ability to work on a collaborative environment.
  • A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to effectively communicate with team, peers and management.
  • Good English language, communication and interpersonal skills. Position requires rotational shift working so flexible working hours is a requirement (mornings, afternoons and nights). Basic knowledge of production / manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to learn/use IT tools including Office and SAP.
  • FLT driver license is preferred but not essential.
