The natural language team at DeepMind seeks to build artificial intelligence algorithms capable of understanding and generating natural language, and in doing so shed light on how humans acquire such linguistic abilities. We bring to bear all of the tools of machine learning and cognitive science, including deep learning, structured models, and unsupervised learning, on problems such as question answering, translation, multi-modal reasoning, and language generation.
Research Engineers in Language work on a diverse and stimulating range of projects including: developing algorithms and prototyping applications, dataset development, creation of simulated environments for learning grounded language, providing software design and programming support to research projects, along with crafting and implementing software libraries in multiple programming languages.
We have built a hardworking and engaging culture, combining academic and product-led environments, to provide an encouraging balance of structure and flexibility. Our approach inspires collaboration across all groups within the company that require language expertise.
