Within our Science, Technology and Medical Journal (STMJ) team we are looking for a Managing Editor to join our Physics journal team, covering the field of Condensed Matter Physics.

As a Managing Editor you will be working closely together with all people involved in the publishing process: Your first partners are the Publisher responsible for the journal as well as the Editors of the journals. Your task is to maintain high standards and further develop an efficient, author-friendly workflow. You will also work on introducing new journal functionality and implement new journal policies.

In this role you will check and evaluate submissions (submitted to the selected journals) before the manuscripts are assigned to the handling editors and before the review process has started. Your goal is to filter out submissions that do not fit within the criteria of the selected journal, such as originality, novelty, methodology, readability and scope of journal. Screening of articles will be based on questions like: Is the article submitted within the Aims and Scope of the journal? Does the science make sense? Is the manuscript of sufficient quality? Does the introduction explain the novelty that the article will bring? And does it explain the motivation for this research? You will work with the editors of Physics to maintain the journal’s high standards and further develop an efficient, author-friendly workflow.

  • PhD in Physics
  • A results-driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic work attitude
  • Record of having published papers in scientific journals
  • Technology savvy, familiar with online platforms, social media and digital content

  • Relationship builder; ability to build relations on different levels within a large international environment
  • Commercial business sense; spot opportunities for improvement and align relevant stakeholders Good communication skills and excellent written and spoken English
